Block Prints, Chai and Po-hah!
A very Happy New Year to all of our readers! We hope the new year brings health and happiness to you and your loved ones.
We at Indic Creations are blessed to have our customers trust us as we continue to bring the very best Indian craftsmanship has to offer the American aesthetics. In 2025, we hope to explore, curate and share an even more diverse collection. Some of the ideas include expanded colors and designs in throw pillow covers made with block printing techniques such as of Sanganeri (Light background with natural dyes), Dabu (Mud resist technique), Bagh (Natural dyes and geometric patterns) and kalamkari (freehand drawing on cotton or silk). We are also enamored by the varieties of silk India has to offer such as Benarsi, Muga, Tussar, Kanjeevaram, Mulberry and others and will look to bring them in forms that suit american households and lifestyles such as Pillow Covers, Bedsheets, scarves and shirts. We hope you continue to support our venture as we look to strengthen our support for local American economy and support American war heroes.
This month we wanted to write about two fun foodie topics:
- Masala Tea - The Indian tea has taken the moniker of masala tea. In India, its called well...tea. People add any spices they like to suit their taste and appetite. These include ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and even black pepper and very rarely turmeric. We know our CEO creates his own concoction of five spices he uses everyday. So, we encourage all of our readers to make their own masala tea with the spices they like and can tolerate. Spices can support several health benefits and also add a much needed punch to ones tea or even coffee! Let us know what your spiced tea looks like.
- Po-ha - What is that you ask? Poha is one our CEOs favorite breakfast items. It is healthy, can be prepared quickly and has a lot of room to customize to one's taste and preferences. It is made from flattened rice called poha and hence the name. Poha comes in two varieties - thin and thick. For this dish, thin poha is perfect. You can definitely find the recipe for yourself but suffice say this is a 1 pan breakfast that can be made within 15 minutes with as many vegetables as one likes to make it nutritious. Give it a try if you are looking for something vegan to add to your weekend breakfast and let us know your customizations in the comments below!
Thanks for reading and hope all of you take care to stay warm as we endure the frigid January month here in the US!
